Whoooole load of craziness in this episode and one pretty big shocker moment that upset me. It was a decent episode in terms of pacing but the real clincher for me was the sharp plot turn that I’m sure shocked a great number of watchers. Again, not the best show out there or this season but it does have its moments and I’m willing to give them a shot.

My impressions these few episodes into this show is that it’s really not for everyone and that even for those whom it is for, can still find some areas of critique and intrigue. I, for one, enjoy this show – not as much as some of the other series I’m following this season, definitely not, but it does have its highlights and does pummel with quite a shock factor this episode. I’m not by any means saying that it’s up there with the best anime series of all time – not even close – but there is a certain charm if you get into the nitty gritty and pay attention to certain scenes.

Pretty darn cool is what came to mind when watching this episode, which was a cool mix of drama and suspense, as well as a little bit of brightness, which was totally needed after weeks of literally and figuratively dark episodes. I loved it! Every show needs to have a character-bonding episode and this was definitely the first one of M3.

Oi, what do I say about this episode? Umm…hmmm, might need to get back to you on that one. I guess you could say that nothing really happened in this episode, or at least nothing of import really. It wasn’t really meh as it was me balancing between a seesaw and trying to figure out what the heck was going on and why. This show is classified under the horror genre, and while there have been some horror-esque things going on, I think the main aspect of this show that makes it a horror is the fact that it’s similar to shows like Pupa or Corpse Party, which were almost needlessly grotesque and rather dull and muted at the same time. Having not really watched any other horror anime, I’m wondering whether most horror shows are like this because Jigoku Shoujo certainly wasn’t…

This was such a confusing episode for me, but there was one saving grace in the very sadistic, very cruel and very mentally tortured character of Isaku Heito, played very astonishingly by the adorable, baby-faced Murase Ayumu. Apart from him, this episode failed to deliver somewhat, but I’m hoping that it’ll pick up sooner rather than later, much like a lot of shows recently seem to do.

Yet another highly anticipated show and while it doesn’t quite live up to the same sense of excitement as derived from Sidonia no Kishi, it’s still an impressive first episode with a lot of mystery, drama and the usual gathering of chosen teenage kids, tasked with the responsibility of saving the world. Or, their town, in this case. With a colourful cast, lovely graphics and some cool music, this is shaping up to be one heck of a season with its long list of need-to-test-run shows!
