Episode 1 – “Bearing a Posthumous Name”
“Imina, Nigirite” (諱、握りて)
God of chaos in a tracksuit? Short little teenage-angsty shinki? Awesome cat-girl with stellar wrestling moves? Why, hello my old friends!
At last, Noragami season 2 begins, and with it comes our favourite trio and all the fun-tastic characters in between. I’ve read quite a lot of good things about the Bishamon arc, and as one of my favourite characters I’m glad they’re getting to her and Yato’s backstory.
It’s already got a somewhat darker tone right off the bat, with Bishamon’s dream/memories of a very old and brutal Yato attacking her shinki. There were allusions to this event in the first season when Bishamon was introduced, and now the dark tale is finally coming to light.
She’s still on a warpath, though, and in search of Yato to carry out her revenge, and has put Kazuma in charge of this search but, while I’m sure his loyalty to Bishamon is undeniable he’s also lying about not know Yato’s whereabouts, or at least stretching the truth and keeping him out of Bishamon’s way. We can only imagine how that semi-betrayal is going to pan out in future episodes.
But for all that Kazuma isn’t the only one of her shinki who have questionable motives. A certain pink-haired shinki doesn’t look too happy with Bishamon bringing another soul into her home, and the medicine dude, Kugaha, is certainly a little creepy.
There’s a hint that he might be in charge of sending in one of the shinki to get close to Yukine, whom we know is desperate for some friends his own age. Seeing as Kugaha has obviously found a link to Yato, if he’s so loyal to Bishamon why hasn’t he informed her?
It’s all very suspicious. *smokes a Sherlock pipe*
Nonetheless, Noragami Aragoto has been off to a good start, with an interesting storyline ahead and it looks like we’ll be getting a little more character development this season, which always makes me happy to see.
I hope you’re all as excited for this new season as I am and I hope it’ll live up to my expectations~
