School Trip Time – 1st Period 「修学旅行の時間・1時間目」
This week’s school trip gives new meaning to making the best and creating memories of your high school holidays.
I have to echo Koro-sensei, why would these third year students have a school trip in exam year?! Isn’t it usually in 2nd year? That aside, being in class 3-E means being on duty even while on a school trip to Kyoto – assassinate Koro-sensei when you can so make sure to plot the best routes to get the dirty work done guys. Who else gets to look forward to their school trip in this way discussing about how best to assassinate someone? Lol at how this show takes the normal, mundane usual slice-of-life school anime and spin it with the assassination angle.
This week’s student focus is goodie quiet girl Kanzaki Yukiko (Satou Satomi) who isn’t quite all she seems. Everyone goes through a rebellious phase and for Kanzaki, it meant dolling up with make-up, dyed hair and a grunge punk look while hanging out at game centres during 2nd year. I’m telling ya it’s all the stress built up from demanding parents and the ridiculous system this middle school has. I mean it’s just plain derision to have the other students travel in first-class train carriages and put up in a hotel while 3-E travel coach and stay in a rundown ryokan inn. It’s so unfair and it’s ridiculous to see that scene of not just the 2 students Nagisa “bullied” 2 episodes ago talk down to the students of 3-E but their idiot male teacher too! No wonder Karma doesn’t wanna go back to their company even if he qualified to – I’d maim/kill that teacher too if I were him.
Karma (I so so massively <3 Okamoto Nobuhiko‘s badass sadistic voice acting here) puts up quite the fight against the truly idiotic high school hooligans who decide they want to kidnap Kanzaki and Kayano (Suzuki Aya). Aren’t you glad Nagisa agreed to group up with Karma, Sugino? And aren’t all of you ungrateful students glad Koro-sensei went overboard with his over-enthusiasm in preparing Kyoto guide tomes for each and every one of you at mach-20 speed? Seriously the octopus had every scenario covered and I was in stitches over examples as to how to deal with one’s emotions upon realising Kyoto souvenirs are sold in Tokyo departmental stores too. Thanks to him, Kanzaki & Kayano were saved before the high school idiots could take any photos. I believe no other teacher would be able to rescue students in that predicament before anything serious actually happened.
Although this episode was what was covered in the OVA, it’s nice to see this version with Fukuyama Jun exploring yet again the wide gamut of emotions (crazy, sad, depressed, tired, excited, embarrassed) as Koro-sensei; Seki Tomokazu was Koro-sensei in the OVA. The only person who’s sane in this anime is ironically enough Sugita Tomokazu‘s Karasuno sensei. I loved how he tamed bitch-sensei and her ridiculous OTT dressing! Next week’s a continuation of the Kyoto-arc and if the OVA’s a guide, next week should see a professional sniper featured. Can he land a hit on Koro-sensei to share the ten billion yen prize money in the mecca of assassinations (honestly never thought of Kyoto that way before!)? He should know he’s up against a class of trained assassins who can sneak up on the enemy so stealth they’d put ninjas to shame!
