I’m quite amused at the whole Chunnibyou phenomenon and how these kids use it to deal with complex puppy love and crush issues. It’s really quite cute ^^

As it turns out, Shichimiya ‘Sophia Ring SP Saturn VII’ did have a crush on her ‘Hero’ Yuuta back in middle school when Yuuta was really suffering from a massive case of chuunibyou… like massive. He had the whole hair covering one eye, deep stoic voice going on as befits the Dark Flame Master. It’s no wonder he’s so embarrassed by his past. On a side note, I didn’t realise how much I missed Fukuyama Jun‘s Lelouch voice~ so anyway, she liked him and realised that a consequence of liking your friend is you start losing yourself i.e. her magical powers of course. She starts caring more about her appearances than spewing corny, cheesy but cute (for a middle schooler I still think they’re cute) lines about taking over the world and going to magical battle. So rather than risk losing her ‘Hero’ (friend) to a love relationship that could possibly go wrong, Shichimiya chose to have her ‘Hero’ friend than to be Yuuta’s girlfriend. Chuunibyou saves the day.

Except does Sophia Ring SP Saturn VII still pine for her one-sided crush? That’s what worries the Tyrant Eye who has a love contract with the Dark Flame Master. Isn’t it cute to fall in love under the guise of a chuunibyou contract? Does away with shy adolescence right? Fear not Tyrant Eye, because the sad reality is that the Dark Flame Master has lost his powers and with it, his memories of his days with Sophia Ring SP Saturn VII it seems. So even though he could remember flash formation 2, he has lost all memories of the special token between Sophia and the Hero. To Sophia, he will always be Hero and not Yuuta. Will the same be the case for the Tyrant Eye? Will the love contract grow up along with them and lose its magical bond giving way to a promise between two high schoolers? That’s what ought to be truly troubling the Tyrant Eye because she’s the one who has yet to decide to grow up and give up her chuunibyou persona. Not that it’s not cute not that she’s been endowed with a new weapon (umbrella) from none other than her contracted love.

Mori Summer Nibutani has moved on too but it seems someone really wants the Mori Summer witch/mage back! Can Dekomori solve the mystery?! Oh this is so cute to watch~
