“Kokkuri-san’s Steamy Secret Hot Spring Tour!”
And the woes of female Kokkuri-san continue! She’s seriously one of the best things to come out of this show so far.
Kokkuri-san’s still a girl and Shigaraki still a creep but Kohina’s managed to find a scroll that could potentially undo the curse. Unfortunately, said scroll happily told her that she’d just be this way for the rest of her life. It’s kind of funny, though, that no matter how insistent Kokkuri-san is about being a man, she still takes time to carry out usual female pursuits like self-pampering – the sight of her in a face-mask was actually kind of adorable. We do learn, though, that she did used to be able to transform so there must be some reason why she’s so against being a woman.
Sneaky as Shigaraki might be, he does come up with a group overnight trip to an onsen, which reportedly has some mystical powers and Kokkuri-san reluctantly goes along. Nevertheless, it’s still kind of great that Kokkuri-san, Inugami and Tama – who forced her way onto the trip – gang up against the terrible pervert that is peeping Tom Shigaraki. That was some nice teamwork right there. The girls are not so quick to forgive, though, when Kokkuri-san admits that the reason she doesn’t like changing into a woman is because of the way men treat her because of how attractive and good at housework she is. Yeah…narcissistic to a fault.
At night Kokkuri-san and Shigaraki head out looking for the onsen, which turns out to be a dud, and end up wandering around while Inugami and Kohina dutifully follow behind to make sure the resident tanuki doesn’t pull any moves on her. Still, he can be surprisingly charming when he wants to be and wisely tells her that whether man or woman, the logical thing someone would do for their friend is help them.
That doesn’t stop him from trying to kiss her right at the end – while Inugami sneakily snaps a photo – and just at that moment Kokkuri-san turns back into a man, hooray~ With Shigaraki suitably disgusted and Kokkuri-san equally horrified by what just transpired, everything turns back to normal for this band of misfits.
P.S. Komorebi briefly took over this episode’s review because dearest Kiseki asked so nicely~
