最強最速 – Strongest and Fastest
Midousuji takes the green tag in a rather anti-climactic finish. Elsewhere, Onoda and Tadokoro have finally caught up with the rest of the Souhoku team.
It is funny how just one thing can very easily make or break. With Souhoku, the return of Onoda and Tadokoro gave the team hope, strength and renewed faith. It was a very touching reunion, and seeing the Souhoku team members light up upon Onoda’s and Tadokor’s arrival was very heartening. On the other hand, Shinkai’s loss proved to be costly for the team, as we see that Hakone Academy is slowly falling apart. The faith that the Hakone team had in their ace sprinter was fuel for their fire. And now that their fuel has been exhausted, the fire is slowly burning out. Oh maaan… I really wanted Shinkai to win and put Midousuji in his place *sighs*
So anyway, back to Souhoku. Onoda drafted for Tadokoro all by himself and pulled him along from Hakone all the way to the base of Mount Fuji. It was not hime power that brought them so far, but the power of teamwork. Onoda proved what an inspiring little individual he is, because he cycles out of pure enjoyment. As their coach said, bicycles can be used for racing, but they are fundamentally meant for fun. It is a vehicle of joy. And Onoda is the very embodiment of that joy. The fun that he has while cycling is practically infectious, and it was his positive attitude that helped both him and Tadakoro catch up with the rest of the Souhoku team.
In the last 30 kilometers, at the eleventh hour of the second day, all six members of team Souhoku are finally together. Let the real race begin.
