勝利する男 – The Winner
Strength in numbers. Never thought that would apply to cycling of all things.
The Inter-High is a team battle and all six members fight to get to the finish line. In team Souhoku, being together is part of their strength. And if it means the ace drafting to get them to their goal, then so be it! Kinjou is the very embodiment of the ace, as well as the captain. His actions as well as his words inspire and encourage his team. What a true captain. That’s right, he’s a guy that will never give up, and his tenacity pulls his team through as well. And to channel Yasumoto Hiroki’s character in Fairy Tail, what an 男だ！
Up in the front, Midousuji and Shinkai are still at it. Even though it looked like Shinkai’s phobia put him at the losing end, his teammates still remain fully confident that he will pull through and be victorious. A person who has tasted the bottom is strong. Shinkai, who had reached pit bottom, had picked himself back up and started cycling again. His perseverance and determination are proof of his strength, strength that is going to achieve him victory. That is what the Hakone Academy team believes.
Midousuji once again shows what a tactician he is. He had completed a very thorough research on Shinkai and used the information he gathered to execute his plan. This episode showed us just how detailed he is, going as far as to consider the narrowing of the route in the execution of his plans. He knows about Shinkai’s accident, he knows Shinkai’s fears – Shinkai can’t overtake on the left, and Midousuji is using it against him. Sneaky, yes. But hey, all’s fair in this race, isn’t it?
What Midousuji did not expect, was for Shinkai to go full on demon mode on him. At the very last moment, Shinkai unleashes his inner monster, and even overtakes Midousuji on the left. Who would have thought that after all the drama, Shinkai would be able to pull out something like that. Well, he is the demon that appears on Hakone’s straights after all. I guess it takes one monster to beat another monster, huh?
