Another episode of the usual stuff which left me clueless as to what the production team was trying to do. Well, at least Clear isn’t “dead”.
Has anyone missed Noiz and Koujaku? I haven’t, but they did appear for a while in this week’s episode to show some concern and support for Aoba. After what felt like forever by DRAMAtical’s usual standards, the lead for this week’s episode, Mink, finally appeared. Well, I do appreciate the part where Mink told Aoba to “leave alone” because, at least we get some sort of explanation about the other characters’ disappearance from the episode.
Mink has some plan and it involves uploading some program into the Oval Tower’s monitoring room systems via Aoba’s Allmate. Don’t ask me why it can’t be done with any other Allmate and why they were able to sneak all the way into Oval Tower’s monitoring room without being discovered or deterred by anything. After hacking into Oval Tower’s monitoring room, they finally get cornered by none other than Akushima from the Old District. What is he doing all the way in Platinum Jail? *Shrugs* He appears to be under Toue’s mind control and was only stopped after Aoba used Scrap on him. Everything was seen on video by Toue of course, who was watching the show with pretty boy Sei. The only thing I’m still interested in finding out, is Sei’s identity. I guess we might find out about that in the next episode?
Here comes the mandatory brain invasion every episode and Aoba enters Mink’s consciousness, and just when everything seems to proceed as per normal, Mink rejects Aoba’s interference and Aoba wakes up in the real world without successfully “saving” Mink. Who exactly is Mink? A peep into his past showed us that he used to have an established family/clan which utilised scents which could control people’s feelings. Toue wanted a part of this attractive secret but I’m guessing he was rejected. The angered man massacred almost the entire clan and razed the village to the ground. This should be part of the reason why Mink wants to destroy Toue, and why Mink knew about Aoba. It seemed as though Grandma and a few other kids whom Aoba knows were involved in the massacre, but that was just a part of Mink’s warped conscience? So Grandma wasn’t linked to Mink’s clan?
Mink’s issue wasn’t really resolved in this episode and I guess we’ll be seeing more of him next week, along with the other main characters (remember how Noiz’s Allmate saw Aoba leaving with Mink). Since we’re done with all the main characters, are we finally entering into the final climax of this series soon? About time to.
On a side note, I don’t think there’s anything between Ren and Aoba (can there be??) but I noticed that Ren seemed a little strange during this episode. Hmm.
