In which Sebastian is a man whore and Ciel is a cutie pie, Soma is hilarious as always, Doll breaks my heart and Joker is still very beautiful. Also, drama. And sex.

The Plot

Hmm, not much to report on the plot front, seeing as not much even happened. Still, I believe the episode geared us up for what’s to come, as well as gave us a lot of sick!Ciel and baby!Ciel scenes, all of which i greatly enjoyed. I mean seriously, that boy as an even younger boy was the cutest thing ever. But anyways, Ciel is still sick from last week and, as usual, his dreams take a dark turn to his childhood when he found his parents dead and was then kidnapped and tortured both physically and mentally by the same people who murdered his parents, followed by his first contact with Sebastian and the forming of their contract. But he also dreams of perhaps the worst betrayal he experienced after the death of his parents when Madam Red revealed herself as the ripper and then threatened to kill Ciel. There’s a memory later, though, that harks back to the first season, where Ciel and Sebastian stand in front of her grave and Ciel makes Sebastian swear to never betray him nor ever leave his side.

Meanwhile, Sebastian, after getting Will to back off while he did his job, comes across (eavesdropped, more like) a distraught Beast, who had been trying to keep Joker from going to see Father. She begs him to stop having to steal children for him and to stop having to kill people, to just run away with their makeshift family and live a good life elsewhere. Unfortunately Joker doesn’t believe they can turn back at this point and sadly, his loyalties, regardless of how reluctant they are, lie with their Father. And what better way to make a lovelorn and brokenhearted woman feel better than by taking advantage of her emotional state and sleeping with her. Sebastian, you sly dog. I…pretty much couldn’t keep a straight face while their little sex scene – which, let me tell you, did not leave very much to the imagination at all – and as Beast unwittingly revealed more information about the first string and their haphazard family background. Sebastian subtly manipulates her in more ways than one  and finds out more about the seal, which belongs to a certain Baron Kelvin. After he’s thoroughly ravished poor Beast, he goes to pick Ciel up and the two leave the circus and go back home, leaving a satisfied Will to finally ‘start’ whatever it is the shinigami were sent there for in the first place. The next day Peter, Wendy and the rest of the first string – minus Joker – are mad at Doll and giving her flack for whatever it was that she revealed to Ciel and Sebastian, but Doll is insistent that she didn’t tell him anything important and that he’s just another lonely boy without a family and no one to return to. Despite their anger, the group decide to carry on with their nefarious plan – which likely involves a certain Phantomhive earl – and send Doll to meet up with Joker and tell him of all that’s transpired.

Back at the Phantomhive home that Soma and Agni are looking after, Ciel is still sick and doesn’t appear to be getting any better. Through a series of manipulations on Agni and Soma’s part, they manage to scold Sebastian for not taking care of his master properly, and so, despite his little man tantrum, Ciel is forced into bed and they decide that they’re going to finish everything tomorrow. I don’t think we’ve got to wonder whether the circus gang are going to beat them to it by then, though.

The Characters/Episode Highlights

I suppose one of my favourite parts was Ciel’s little backstory montage because of how pretty it was and I always have a soft spot for watching the first meeting between Ciel and Sebastian. I just really like watching the two of them together because their dynamic is just so intriguing and dark and doomed once Ciel’s dead. Also, just Ciel. ❤ He was just utterly adorable in his flashback of meeting Baron Kelvin once when he was a little boy. That face! And those young, happy eyes! He was just such a sweetheart! ❤❤❤ Also, I’m not sure what Doll sees when she looks at Ciel, but in her flashback of him he’s this cute, clumsy little boy and I just thought that was the sweetest thing. I just really want them to explore the relationship between Ciel and Doll more because the two of them have this really interesting chemistry that could make them such good friends and I’m a sucker for these dynamics.

This wasn’t an episode highlight more so a…point of note but the whole sex scene between Sebastian and Beast was just…oh goodness. XD I could not take the entire thing seriously at all and had a really hard time not laughing because it was just kind of ridiculous and it reminds me of that episode in the first season with Sebastian and that nun and how I couldn’t stop laughing during that scene either. Ring any bells? I do wonder what Grell is going to say when he finds out of Sebastian’s little exploit.

Doll. Just…Doll. I mean, even as Freckles she’s utterly adorable and sweet and kind and I just want to see her happy always! She gets bullied and pushed around so much when she’s arguably the sweetest of the bunch and I just love her to pieces. I just want to see more of Doll as Doll as well as Freckles because both her personas are lovely~

The Verdict

It…wasn’t the best episode but it wasn’t terrible either. I guess it was one of those mid-season fillers that pulls the trigger for the uphill climb to the climax so it was all right, in my opinion. Am still definitely looking forward to next week’s episode because we’re finally getting into the action-y bit, methinks, and I’m really intrigued about who this Baron Kelvin is.
