DRAMAtical Murder brings us an entire episode of Koujaku and Aoba in its usual style.
The two entered Platinum Jail after being welcomed by a creepy mascot, and were greeted by a fantastic light show. Nothing is what it seems on the surface in DRAMAtical Murder, the light show was some sort of light drug which sent the spectators, including Koujaku, into a trance. Thanks to Aoba, Koujaku managed to regain his senses, but he ran off after he caught a glimpse of a mysterious man. I do remember seeing this mysterious skulls man talking to Mizuki in one of the first few episodes and he just has the bad-person aura radiating off him; must be the skulls.
Aoba ran after Koujaku, but got hit by the light drugs and fell into the hands of Ryuho, the mysterious skulls guy. He was about to ink one of his designs onto Aoba when Koujaku ran in and stopped him. As his anger at Ryuho consumed him, Koujaku lost his senses and became a wild beast who only thinks of destroying everything.
Aoba-kun, how much do you know about Koujaku?
Aoba went into Koujaku’s conscience with his power, Scrap, vowing to save him. We then find out that Koujaku was a victim of Ryuho’s tattoo drug (I can’t think of a better phrase right now) and had massacred everyone at his house one day, including his precious mother. More importantly, we learned that Koujaku was the son of the family’s mistress, called back to be the family’s successor because the rightful wife couldn’t bear any sons. Why is there always so much infidelity going on in dramas and animes? Anyway, Aoba saved Koujaku by destroying the part of him which was bound to his past.
Towards the end, we witness Ryuho reporting back to Toue before collapsing onto the ground. Is this the last we will see of skulls guy? Probably so. When he first appeared, I thought Ryuho was voiced by Yusa but after a few more phrases from him made me realise that he wasn’t. Sasanuma Akira portrayed the feminine sadistic tattoo artist perfectly and I felt that it was such a waste for him to disappear so quickly, I was looking forward to hearing more of him. Well, from the short clip after the new ED, we can expect Hino Satoshi for the next episode and that keeps the fangirl in me happy enough.
One thing which I like about DRAMAtical Murder, besides how the episode previews are done, is how colourful everything is. I love colours and DRAMAtical Murder is like visual happiness for me when I watch it.
Note to self: I really shouldn’t watch DRAMAtical Murder after marathoning the lastest episodes of SAO II, Barakamon and Gekkan. SAO II does tension really well, Barakamon does heartwarming like no other anime and Gekkan is just pure hilarity from start till end. Meanwhile, DRAMAtical Murder tries to do all (does it?) but doesn’t seem to excel in any aspect. So, I’ll watch DRAMAtical first, when the next week’s episodes come out.
